1930's : The Golden Age of Glamour
Definitely one of my most favorite ages! This saw the surgents of the pant suit in women's fashion, my all time favorite the wide leg trousers and/or palazzo pant, exaggerated shoulder pads and the abundant use of rayons and linens.
Really the 30's is an age most people overlook as a decade of style, but the 1930's brought with it an era of on scene starlets in glittering gowns, coco cola waist lines and strong shoulders.
Perhaps one of my favorite actress of this period is German born actress Marlene Dietrich. One of my all time favorite of her movies is Witness for the Prosecution...Okay so if you haven't seen this movie, you need to, this movie has a wonderful twist ending that I, for once, will not spoil. After the film ends there’s a disclaimer that runs during the credits.
“The management of this theater suggests that for the greater entertainment of your friends who have not yet seen the picture, you will not divulge, to anyone, the secret of the ending of Witness for the Prosecution.” so I wont spoil the twist and turns....Just know Ms. Dietrich plays the wife of a man accused of killing his elderly mistress, who he manipulated into making him the sole beneficiary if her estate.... Need I say more! Its available on Netflix so enjoy.
So let's get down the fashion
LOVVEEE IT! |
Though this is not typical 1930's style I do love the textured and feathered embellishment |
These make me desire a tailored man's suit oohh so bad! |
Menswear never looked so good |
Okayyy...Let's get to the Pants....my favorites
I would definitely wear all three of the pant featured here, esp love the white ones |
Due to the Great depression and World War II the lighthearted costly decorative styles of 1920s were abandoned for more conservative womanly looks. |
These era saw halter tops bare mid-rif and the introduction of suntans |
I love how designers now are incorporating this era into modern day designs... You can achieve the classy, womanly look without showing too much skins
Found this online Photoshoot remake of a 1930's Woman |
Sonia Rykiel's 2011 Resort Collection does just that.....Ode to 1930's ode to Classic Glamour!
