THE HITS THE MISSES AND THE CONFUSED GOWNS OF MET GALA 2015

Is anyone else out there kind of disappointed with the fashion at the 2015 Met Gala. When I heard the theme was to be "China: Through The Looking Glass"- I got excited, anticipating an overload of Asian inspired fabrics and styles juxtaposed against the marvelous whimsy of Alice In Wonderland.

Needless to say I sent many nights trying to predict what designers like Chinese Haute Couturier Zhang Jingjing and American Haute Couturier Jean Paul Gaultier were going to come up with. I was quiet surprised when a slew of attendees turned out some boring uninspired gowns and others that took the theme too literal in my humble opinion.... And then there were the missing Chinese designers all together.

Chloe Sevigny in J.W Anderson's gown... So we get it it's China themed but really the dragon embroidery and Chinese brocade was totally cliche and not all inspiring.

This Chanel Couture seen on Dakota Johnson, is a stunning dress but is totally off theme and looks like a dress Christian Grey himself would probably request she don in one of their late night spankings.

Miley Cyrus in Alexander Wang. This had me lost for words on this number.

This Stella McCartney number worn by Cara Delevingne is sexy but more of a Grammy worthy outfit the tattoos had more to do with the China theme than this black playsuit those.

THE WEIRD BUT STRANGELY BEAUTIFUL
I will give Solange applauds for her risk taking in this Giles number, though it looks rather uncomfortable to wear, but to me its Met exhibit worthy.

Zendaya in Fausto Puglisi
THE HEAD ATTIRE
Karen Elston in Golden floral Headpiece & Sarah J Parker in Phillip Tracey
Though some tried to utilize the theme in a creative way I think the headpieces would've best been served incorporating in into a one of a kind gown. Case in point SJP's lack lust H& M gown, I don't get the flames headpiece either what are we so hot headed about the Met Gala, Chinese New Year or the fact that you waited last minute to get a dress an ended up with this catastrophe.

THE CAPES
Rihanna in Guo Pei, Lady Gaga in Balenciaga
Was the theme 21st Century Dracula cause if so they nailed it... Mind you it was the first 80 degree day in New York for 2015, maybe Rihanna is cooler cause she is showing shoulders. All in all ridiculous the Caped Avengers.

THE SHEERS
Kim K West in Peter Dundas, Beyonce in Givenchy and JLo in Versace
I'm over the overtly sexy sheer dresses, Kim Kardashian I expected overly sexy but Beyonce and JLo I expected better of you guys, this is where that superb fashion sensibility needs to come into play.

MY BEST DRESS NOMINEES

Drum roll pleaseee.... In no particle order.

Bee Shaffer in Alexander McQueen
Sienna Miller in Thakoon Panichul

Kerri Washington in Prada
Selena Gomez in Vera Wang

Zhang Zigi in Carolina Herrera
In the end I can't say there was one dress that really made a wow statement from me. That screams MET GALA worthy, a gown we expect to see in the exhibition in the following year. I guess that's what made this years Gala so interesting amidst the 90's goth, 80's graffiti, Vegas Showgirls and Japanese Geisha it made for great water-cooler convos come Tuesday morning.

Stick around guys we have a lot more fashion news to come....xoxo!
